St. Anthony Park Celebrates July Fourth for the 61st Time
St. Paul's most neighborly neighborhood prepares for another grass-roots fun day.
The parade assembles at 10:30 am at Como Avenue and Luther Place. If you are driving, you should enter Como from Grantham (up near Murray Jr. High.) The parade starts at 11 am and proceeds down Como Avenue to Langford Park, where it disperses. Remember, no handing out or throwing things to the crowd from the parade. Although the 4th of July event is not a function of the St. Anthony Park Community Council, you may contact us and we will have the parade coordinator get back to you with details and insure that you are in the line-up
What: July Fourth, 2008, celebration and festivities
When: Let's see now, . . . JULY FOURTH!!
Where: Como Avenue, just west of Hwy. 280 and then at Langford Park.
8:30 a.m. LANGFORD PARK DISTANCE RACES
Registration 8:30 at the Recreation Building (small registration fee).
Races start at 9:00. 4 miles:Divisions for men, women, and masters (40
and over). 2 miles: Joggers and juniors (15 and younger).
10:30 a.m. GRAND PARADE ASSEMBLES
Children’s bikes, trikes, wagons, etc. assemble at Park Station.
Bands, vehicles and marching units assemble on Luther Place. Get your
free American Flag!
11:00 a.m. GRAND PARADE BEGINS
Proceeds from Luther Place and down Como Avenue to Langford Park.
Parade includes color guard, neighborhood units, bands, floats, VIP’s,
music, kids and much more!
11:45 a.m. PROGRAM IN THE BANDSTAND
Mayor Chris Coleman and other VIPs will speak, the 6th-graders will
read their winning patriotic essays, and the St. Anthony Park
Community Band and the Pig’s Eye Jass Band will provide music.
12:00 noon REFRESHMENT STAND OPENS
Get your hotdogs, pop and ice cream by the tennis courts! Sponsored by
the Langford Park Booster Club.
HORSESHOE TOURNAMENT
Registration from 12:00 to 1:00.
Pre-register by calling 651-298-5765.
Doubles tournament begins at 1:00.
VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT
Registration from 12:00 to 1:00. Pre-register by calling 651-298-5765.
Tournament begins at 1:00. Two tournaments include a power tournament
and a recreational tournament. Sign up individually or as a team.
TENNIS TOURNAMENT
Registration from 12:00 to 1:00. Pre-register by calling 651-298-5765.
Tournament begins at 1:00. Parent-Child doubles tournament. 12 and
under, 13 and over.
1:00 – 4:00 p.m. PONY RIDES
1:00 – 7:00 p.m. LOCAL MUSICAL TALENT AT THE BANDSTAND
2:30 – 4:00 p.m. CHILDREN’S RACES AND CONTESTS
Events for kids of all ages. Ribbons for all participants. Family events, too!
4:00 p.m. DOOR PRIZES
Drawing at the bandstand for children and adult prizes. Must be present to win.
Early evening DINNER PROVIDED BY LANGFORD PARK BOOSTER
CLUB
Step up and taste a delicious taco dinner!
7:00 – 10:00 p.m. DANCE MUSIC PROVIDED BY Rich and the
Resistors! Dance to 50’s and 60’s party rock favorites at the
basketball courts!
